Are they worth adding to a tank-not doing because they supposedly clean other fish-just as a new tank addition fish

How big is your tank? They sometimes have difficulty adapting to aquarium life, they need to be fed very often to keep weight.

I have tried 3 times with cleaner wrasses. All 3 times the cleaner wrasse did not survive. I feed my 180g tank twice daily. The last time I had two and they were both doing fine and a week had past. The next day they both were never seen or found. I checked the overflow and they were not there. I like the wrasse but will not try again. I hope you have better luck!

I've never had them live long. My LFS that is salt only will not stock them. He will order if someone request them. He said the mortality rate is too high and they are a fish that should be left in the ocean in his oppinion.
they are they have an important job too do in the ocean

It depends a lot on how they are collected, IMO. If you get a cleaner wrasse you should have a decent amount of fish. Do NOT get one thinking it will help with ich or any other parasite. I've said this before but if I knew nothing about them except my own experiences I would say they are eat small particles of food in the water column that goes by them similar to anthias and clean fish for survival so they don't get eaten. But we do know they provide a valuable service in nature.

They will eat just about any small particle of food (mysis, flakes, pellets, etc.) Sometimes I see them picking on rocks or glass. They will clean if a fish it approaches it. I've never had constantly bother fish. I have a couple in my different tanks for years. Pairing sometimes does not turn out well. They all go through full QT in copper.

i cant think

Unless you have several large bodied fish (and I mean at least 4) I wouldn’t even think of it.
These guys are a pain when it comes to beating up fish and it’s often resulted in by not having enough large bodied fish.
