Hi,
So I set up a new 150 gallon DT and I am using red sea reef mature to cycle the tank. I'm on day 9 and I have very cloudy water 1 day and then the next morning clear and then it repeats it self. All my levels are what they are supposed to be at this stage according to the red sea schedual. Is it normal to cloudy water?

Do you have sand? Any chance any of your wave makers or return pump are pointed towards the sand?

I have sand . No wavemaker or return is facing the sand. I put the sand in over a week ago and it settled to crystal clear. Then a couple of days in to cycle it's got cloudy

Sounds like a bacterial bloom(s). I’m going through one on my new frag system. I’d just continue to wait it out...
I was thinking the same. Does urs clear up overnight and then get cloudy a day later?

It’s been cloudy for a few days now. It started out with a nasty slime like substance everywhere. That’s gone now (took about 36-48 hours) and water is clearing up but still somewhat cloudy.

This will probably not be your issue, but it was mine. Mixed up 150 gallons of salt to start my tank rebuild. Turns out this batch of salt had no or very low Mg, Ca then precipitated out of the mix and water then gets cloudy. Ironically this crashed my 1st tank (my fault) and again basically crashed my new tank upgrade (my fault again- but I just want to trust the salt is what they promise) good luck!
