Hello all,
I have two clown fish. I’m not sure what kind they are. Mocha something. I’ll attach a photo.
Anyways, my female clown (Sugar) and her hubby (Wiggles) have always been great eaters since I’ve had them staring on October. I feed them small TDO pellets and frozen mysis shrimp. I crush the mysis while frozen, otherwise it seems to be too big most of the time for them to eat whole. I’ve never had issues with the two eating, but the last few days Sugar has not eaten (that I’ve seen) and Wiggles has eaten much less. It’s odd, they are very active and no other behavioral changes have occurred. What else is strange, is that sugar will go up to the dropper when I’m feeding everyone. She’ll swim up to floating pellets and then not eat it. It’s so weird. She used to eat right from the dropper, and now she acts like she wants to eat but won’t. She does the same with mysis shrimp. I usually feed pellets in the morning and shrimp in the evening. I’ve not changed food types or brands ever.
My thoughts are this:
They were out of their home for a bit bcuz I decided it was time to switch out the flimsy old wooden filing cabinet the tank has been sitting on, for a study beautifully home made stand. This process took about 1.5-2 hours, where they were in a bucket with the rocks and water from the tank. They did fine during this. But I’m thinking, maybe it stressed the two clowns more than I think.
Does stress cause lack of appetite? I switched the stand on Wednesday, so it’s been about 4 days. Is it constipation? Does stress cause constipation?
Note: my water levels are just as they should be
Sugar is the black and white clown, wiggles is the orange black and white with spots.

image.jpg image.jpg I would also like to add she had a bit of poo hanging from her tummy yesterday, which was gone within an hour on its own accord. But is this a sign of constipation?

Clowns are weird. If you changed up the scape they are probably too focused on the new digs.
Keep checking basic chemistry.

I made sure the rocks are positioned exactly as they were before, mostly for the sake of my yellow watchman goby and firefish. I’m planning a water test on Wednesday since I have changed my carbon and done a water change this afternoon. Would stress cause constipation in a fish? Would constipation cause less eating? And it’s just so weird that she still swims to the dropper and bits of food as if she’s gonna eat, but then doesn’t eat.

My clowns in the past stopped eating for 3 days or more. I wouldn't worry.
The clowns will not be fooled, you messed with their territory.

I have a similar issue, added 2 maroon clownfish to a newly cycled tank a few days.
Both fish are fine but they won't pellet, havnt tried frozen yet but the eat the pellet and then spit it out again.

Do you know what their diet was previously? They may not be familiar with pellets

That sounds more like playing with their food. Almost all my fish do that. Some fish have to be trained to eat pellets, luckily my LPS trains all theirs before selling. Try to feed shrimp with a small mix of pellets and every couple days add more pellets and less shrimp. Make sure the pellets are small enough as well

Ask who you got them from, what they were feeding them. I’ve found that to be helpful.
