I was watching this video on youtube . At 13:20 there is a clownfish in an anenome that has black stripes. I have never seen one of these before and wondered if anyone knows what kind it is and if it is possible to get one. Thank you.

On another note this video is awesome and I highly recommend watching it even though it is long.

Vendor Ibluewater.com would probably know. Try an email.

Bump for anyone else that might know, looks to be a Maroon type though.

That's what I was going to say, it looks like a maroon, but those stripes are way different. I like those!

That was my initial thought too but I have never seen one with those stripes. It is one of the best looking clowns I have seen though.

I like it too. I rewatched it like ten times lol. There is also a small clown (maybe a fry) in the anenome as well but it looks to have normal coloration.

I'm wondering if it could be the depth of these fish. Yellow goes away at about 35ft

Not positive at all that's what it is but I you've set me as a breeder on a path now and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The fish looks Insane! I want one, now just have to figure out the genetics to get one. Looks like I will be adjusting some Maroon pairs soon

Just keep this thread in mind if you are able to do it haha. In all seriousness though, how do you go about finding the genetics of a fish? Then once those genetics are found, how do you go about trying to integrate them into your own fish? I am currently in the middle of a career change and attending nursing school full time so I have school and this hobby which I am fortunate enough to have a wife and kids that like it too. I am interested in breeding Occ. Clowns during my downtime form studying, but have always wondered about all the subspecies of clowns. I know this is a whole other thing than just talking about the fish I showed but thought I would ask since you said you are a breeder.

I Cheat! It's the truth. I happen to know a couple of what I would call "Mad Scientist" in the whole hybrid scene. So much of it is crossing to find the gene you want by the look of the fish as it matures and then breeding on top of that. example is my Sanjay Midnight Photons. The Black Photon is a Darwin X Onyx Percula hybrid. Dr Sanjay then took the offspring from that pair with the look he wanted and paired it up with another Darwin to further blacken the Photon clownfish and hence the name of his new hydrid Midnight Photon Clowns.
Also there's a tool out now this is helpful to a point: http://clowncalc.nolapete.com/
My entail thoughts on this fish will be by using a Darwin X Gold Stripe Maroon or maybe a Midnight Darwin X GSM.
Another example is my PNG White Stripe X PNG Lightning produce both White Stripes and Lightning, for me it's about a 60% White Stripe to Lightnings mix out of every hatch

Awesome. Thank you for the reply. I really like those photons, especially the misbars. I must be weird because I actually prefer the looks of misbars. I hope that you will post something on here with your results.

I need to correct myself on my post, the Midnight was actually crossed with a Naked Black Ocellaris in creating the Midnigt Photon

That's a maroon clownfish. Some of them darken with age and maturity. It's not a new species. I've seen a few of these for sale locally, typically $70-$90 for a pair.

Not that carry the black stripe variant. Agree it's a maroon
