First week of cycling, I was doing some maintenance and noticed my tank temp is only 70F. I guess anyone else have a cobalt heater. Should it be fully submerged. I left the dial out of the water so should it be fully submerged ? Also I have it in the my second chamber on my 25 Inovative Marine Lagoon, should I move it to the middle with the pump ?

its a nano tank with a built in sump on the back. 25 gal tank 100watt heater should be plenty to heat that small tank.

Have you double checked it's actually heating? Maybe you got a dud? If you place your hand near the heater can you feel heat coming off of it in the water? If the water is 70 degrees, any warmth off the heater should be easy to feel. Also, what is the ambient room temperature? Most heaters are only rated to raise the temp a certain amount of degrees within a certain ambient room temperature.

its heating it was too high in the tank which was causing it too think it was up to temp. Lowered it down and now tank is at 76F

Mine failed on a few weeks back at 94. Had probably been bad for a long time but I removed my controller to setup a new one and went one night unprotected. Cooked everything in the tank. Posted about it on Instagram and was overwhelmed by the number of people saying theirs did the same. Can happen with any brand really but Cobalt seems to have more than most. I know this is a cheapo thermometer but needed to get an idea of where temps stood.
