Based on another thread, I think Bulk Reef Supply plans to carry them once @Hanna Instruments is finished up with testing.

@Zack@BRS ?

You're right on that. I meant sites that offer the checkers for sale currently. Mitchell, esp chemicals and another scientific tool distributor I contacted (I really wanted one and didn't want to wait).

I did notice that aquacave and saltwateraquarium.com have them listed now, but out of stock.

Hopefully all these sites placing big orders doesn't hurt the people ordering directly from @Hanna Instruments

I called that business and they told me they are 4 weeks backordered. Just a FYI Incase you didn’t cancel your order with Hanna.
@JMM744 said his was coming in a week so not sure when you called but that may not be the case anymore. I haven't cancelled the Hanna yet as I planned to ask them if it was really in stock first though.

Yeah Mitchell is back ordered 3-4 weeks, cancelled my order with them since I ordered from Hanna a week prior. Not sure how @JMM744 is supposed to be getting his in a week....

Huuuuuh... Still waiting.......
Just ordered it Thursday but just wanted to know if they take a oddly long amount of time due to demand. Ill have to start treating with copper soon so just trying to plan.

I ordered my from Hanna on the 18th and got an e-mail this morning that it had shipped.

Yes it's great about your copper level but FOR DOG'S SAKE MAN, pull that film off of the display! Seeing it makes my eyelid twitch. o_O

I bet he still has the film on the microwave keypad, too!

Maybe its because its raining and 45 degrees while im doing this, but humblefish you are right fiji pink is gross. Ive used play sand for freshwater that needed less rinsing [emoji23].

You can actually just use pool sand (although I haven't tested that one for absorption). But be prepared for lots of diatoms in the QT due to all the silicates in that sand.

The sci distributor messed up and kept the original order, so at least I now have 50 extra reagents and can start to fully play with the checker :). They're all dated exp 07/2022, so shelf life doesn't seem to be an issue for these.

I don't think it will delay any orders. Also I looked into both of those sites. They appear to be recent additions. Probably in light of all of this. Both of these vendors offer free shipping (2 day free shipping on saltwateraquarium). So in the future once stocking is no longer an issue it will be better for all of us to order from them rather than Hanna direct to avoid the $13 shipping fee. For example if you just need a $10 refill on reagents it will cost you $23 from hanna, whereas these both will get it to you for $10!

I have my copper checker and a 100 pack of regents that was purchased on their website. It was back ordered but got it a week or so ago.

My order is supposed to ship the 8th of this month but I doubt it will. If it gets put back again I will order from Hanna. My qt. ends this fri. so it’s not needed at this time. The reason I ordered from them was it showed as in stock while everyone else showed out of stock. I have the chemetrics system so it’s not a real big deal .

Update on my QT:

Removed copper on Monday night. All fish did very well throughout the treatment. Only loss was black leopard. Which is a major bummer because it was a transitioning male...

I never saw him eat well at all since arrival. I just figured he was eating enough to survive. No way to know for sure if it was no appetite, or copper.

Conclusion: very easy to monitor ramp up, 30 day therapeutic treatment, and for absorption.

Now 14 days of observation to make sure everyone is clean!

We are pleased to announce that our HI702 High Range Copper Checker has been deemed accurate for use in saltwater. Results were tested both in-house using commercially available copper medications/standards also by third party laboratories. A saltwater sample matrix does not show any interferences with this test and results were deemed precise and accurate according to our standards and accuracy statement of ±0.05 ppm ±5% of reading @ 25°C/77°F.

We greatly appreciate the support of the REEF2REEF community. We thank everyone who is currently testing with our instrumentation and contributed to this discovery. A special thanks to @HotRocks for contacting Hanna and being instrumental throughout this process.

We are still back ordered on all HI702 copper Checkers and HI702-25 reagents. We are currently waiting on large shipments of HI702 copper Checkers, HI702-25 reagents and HI702-11 standards to arrive from manufacturing in Europe.

Many aquarium supply websites and local fish stores have decided to carry this product but are currently experiencing backorders due to high demand.

We want to support our customers and retailers alike so we urge everyone interested in owning the HI702 Copper Checker to purchase directly from one of our authorized resellers. Many of our retailers offer reward points and free shipping.

Retail websites who will be carrying the HI702 High Range Copper Checker so far include:

@Bulk Reef Supply

@MarineDepot

@SaltwaterAq

@Premiumaq @premiumaquatics

@aquacave

@Humblefish

The following retail websites are accepting preorders for the HI702 Copper Checker

Great work getting this all started, and yes, thanks to everyone else who's helped to spear head this, and @Hanna Instruments for moving rather quickly to validate something like this. Great place for the hobby!

Wow that’s great and exciting news! This is literally a game changer for this hobby. Without exaggeration, this will save hundreds if not thousands of marine fish this year alone (based on the immense reach of the R2R community and early adoption this has allowed) and will bring even more people to the world of responsible quarantine as it adds to the simplicity and reliability of doing so effectively/gently.

@HotRocks I know you personally buddy but that’s good work and all of us at R2R are thankful for your hard-work and pioneering/orchestration of this project. Without you, we wouldn’t have any idea that such an easy method of administering and checking copper levels existed. We probably wouldn’t have known about CopperSafe’s QC issues/ potency inconsistencies of not for your research and time. Thanks you.

@Hanna Instruments your quick responses, and handling of the immense increase of demand is nothing short of fantastic. You’ve adapted phenomenally and as a community and as a hobbyist involved heavily in fish disease, THANK YOU.

May this product be fruitful for you, as it’s definitely a mutual benefit. God bless and happy reefing!
