I have noticed two things while discussing Coral Growth. Maybe Crazy but while in the presence of a healthy Coral others seem to respond. Also the healthy Coral I think was kicked out by more aggressive Coral that are taking over. I put it on my grow tray for the lack of a better word and puff? Also using a Turkey baster toblow off Alagae seems to effect them too

Corals these days are unpredictable. There's fast corals and corals that just take a long time to grow even if the condition is the same for both

It's always interesting to me to see how some coral grows perfectly for some, while struggles for others

I have big corals that are almost 2 years old grown from frags and frags that are 2 years old 🤣🤣🤣

Growing corals use to be easier now people struggle with LPS that use to be to newbie corals back in the days

I Think it has to do from were they are coming from I really don’t understand it

I think the big thing that changed is the rockwork.

When I first started in reefing 16 years ago, most rock was live rock, often from a variety of sources. In my first tank, for example, I had rock from all over the Pacific. And growing corals was easy - once I replaced the stock lights on my tank with a powerful DIY LED fixture, my corals exploded with growth. No dosing, just regular water changes, decent flow and good lighting.

Fast forward to my second tank in 2016, when I decided to go all dry on my rocks. No end of problems, very poor coral growth for years. It's only really been in the last 2-3 years that things have started growing normally.

Just my thought, but it's one of the few things that has changed in a big way over the past 10-15 years throughout the hobby.
