Hello all!

How long should it take for any coral pest to hatch and show itself in a 5 gallon nano coral QT tank?

All my coral are in my current coral QT tank (I’m moving and my entire coral collection is in the QT till the display is up and running next month). I have a batch of corals coming in and don’t want to jeapordize my coral, so I set up a temporary nano coral QT, with no light... yet.

How long would you estimate any coral pest (AEFW, nudi, red bug, etc) might show itself after hatching from an egg? Or how long can it take for eggs to hatch and coral pests to show?

I’d like to get these corals in my main QT ASAP but want to be safe!

Thank you so much!!!

Excellent question. We dip at the start to get rid of the pests (knowing it doesn't kill eggs) but generally don't 'dip twice' to get the bugs that later hatch. I wonder if anyone has ever discovered the coral pest lifecycle. If you dip the second time after 30 days, who says the children haven't now laid eggs :)

@Humblefish your the king of QT, any thoughts? Can I just dip every 5 days to be safe?
