Just wondering if there is a coral that can withstand being in front of a gyre running 80/20%.i tried placing a blue matrix acro and it blew the skin off.

I doubt that the gyre blew the skin off an Acro. My bet is on the water parameters that blew the skin off.

It blew the flesh off the acro?
Maybe turn it down some but i dont know of any coral that would fair well in that direct current

Most sps will be able to withstand direct flow from a pump if they are acclimated to the intensity. I once saw a tank that had a powerhead and 1" from a pink lemonade still coral. It was huge 10-12" across. The part right in from of the powerhead had the fullest polyp extension and best color. LPS coral though will probably not be able to withstand direct flow. Their tissue is too flappy and loose and will most likely get torn.
