Really interesting! The key take away for me was: photoperiod (daylight hours) and UV radiation were significantly stronger predictors of estrogen levels during gametogenesis than temperature. Environmental factors collectively explained 86% of oocyte (egg) diameter variance.

My read of that is that it is critical to setup a lighting schedule that adjusts across the entire year, to mimic the local seasons.
 
Might be interesting to see if one can induce spawning via hormones in the water. It’s a complicated experiment but might be interesting for corals that are hard to spawn but that might benefit from aquaculture from parents.
