In an attempt to not spend money on spare parts please help me pick the right choice.

90g, 3x2 tank, 20" tall, peninsula style with Return and intake on same short side. I have option to run Jebao DC 8000, or magdrive 9.5. Leaning toward running the magdrive on skimmer, and DC pump on the return but I have plumbing parts to run either, maybe I need another poll to pick which pump runs where. but this poll is what return nozzle should I run in the display.

I have a bulkhead with 1" lineloc already purchased and on the way, the question is which attachment should I buy?

Do you have other circulation in the display?
If so, I’m a big fan of just using nozzles on return line to maximize turnover. Letting my circulation pumps handle the flow.

Because it is a peninsula I would rather not have additional wave makers. Watched a video on "reef builders" use of educators and it convinced me. He says it take divides the flow in half, then multiplies by 3-5. So I image I will need to dial back the jebao 8000, people say anything more than 600 through sump will get loud. So I if I run 600 return ---600 /2 * 4 = 1200. That should be enough to reach the far side of tank (3'). I plan on running at minimum 1 wavemaker due to layout of my aquascape,

1 random flow generator is all that will really work with just 600gph.the random flow generators like higher gph to get the swirling flow patterns.

I went with the educator. I run a Jebao-8000 ( 2100 GPH rated). I started at 8/10 speed, but so much flow that on the far wall it would blow all the sand 2-4 inches back off the far glass (see pic). Damsels would have a ball(fun) tho, I have seen several cross the stream and do barrel rolls to the far glass. So cut it down to 6 speed and and over a weeks time, even with rubble in the front, all sand gets blown off far end of glass, again see pic.

I started doing math to figure out my turn over rate and came up with 550gph on 6/10 and 256gph on speed 2/10. Its very crude measurements. Cut off pump, drains 1.25 inch, measure/mark. Cut on pump wait ~5 seconds for pump to speed up, start timer. I get ~33 seconds each time for 6/10 speed. GPH = 33s / 4.67g * 60 sec * 60 mins = ~550gph.

I would test the GPH at 10/10 but the initial start up flow above water shoots water halfway across room. I have my doubts about 550. My guess was 900gph. Will continue to test, maybe filling a 5 gallon bucket and timing it. At 6/10 tank has more turbulence at the top than any other tank I've owned. After running the educator for 2 months its time to try the random flows. 108BA05F-5588-4C19-B55F-5D540533251F.jpeg 88DC7FCE-F12B-4AEB-9A0C-4FD8E8D5A5D1.jpeg
