I'm posting in nano forum as I assume majority of nano tanks run with minimal equipment (no sump, overflow, etc). For those running a nano with nothing but tank, rocks, and sand, how do you keep your water clear. Mine always have small particles. Is this just not possible without more equipment?

I dunno.... my 29 has crystal clear water with no kind of filtration at all. Now my 40 with a sump, skimmer, refugium and reactors always has junk floating around in the tank.

Standard 29- I put activated carbon on HOB filter and water is clear.
I read some are using Chemi-Pure Elite.

I do a hob all the time on my 20 and use carbon maybe a week a month, when no carbon I cut some filter floss and place in. I also have a small powerhead and 15 pounds of rock, no sand, as it's used as a QT at the moment for my DT.

Aquaclear Always a small bag of carbon in it. Floss or sponge.
If you have little stuff floating is it your sand?
