If the OP has a microscope, then FW dip as a diagnostic tool might be warranted - only Neobenedenia is large enough to see in dip water without a scope.

There is also an empirical test - if the fish improves the day after FW dip, then the issue is a gill parasite, either flukes or velvet.

But, a FW dip on a weak fish may cause its demise.

He's just beeing pacing and glass surfing non stop crashing into the glass for 15mins+ even though i closed the lights. I assume the popeye has lowered his vision or made him blind. Dont know if this is last moment panic before he leaves us...

Foxface just came out here's a video, he still doesn't want to eat and hes glass surfing. You can see the popeye clearly. @winxp_man I am assuming hes a goner hes been pacing back and forth non stop in total panic

Single eye issues are usually damage. F both eyes where an issues that is another story.

The eyes with good water quality will heal on its own most of the time. Kanaplex is an entry level med for bacterial issues from eye damage, and the one that works at bacterial issues from damage would be erythromycin. Fritz Maracyn has erythromycin and what most people use.

All of this is for the eye. The bigger issue at hand is the gill issues and the fish breathing harder, not eating, and now see you said scratching/ flashing of sorts?

Not quite scratching, it almost feels like hes completely lost sight and is just bumping into the glass back and forth. We have almost no meds where I am and given the current situation of shipping everything takes weeks to get here. I think the only course of action I have is wait. He's finally calmed down and gone to sleep. But popeye is both eyes so I suspect ammonia. Both the fish that died couldnt have been dead more than 6 to 8 hours in the tank dont know how much impact that will have.

Do you have any way to test ammonia? Possibly a Hanna TAN tester?

Ive got Salifert which for whatever reason just looks cloudy without giving me any readings at all. I did put in 2 seachem ammonia alert, both were displaying the green color which stood for 0.05.

Also I do have API I believe its called but didnt use that, ive been told thats just hot garbage

I think api possibly reads better than the Salifert tester. I have the Hanna TAN tester, the Salifert, API, and RS, and a few others. Where they lack reading is below .25 but with copper when it’s new QT tank, or when a WC was done, you will get the .5 false positive all the times it’s about 48-72 hours after a fresh dose of copper that you will get better readings of TAN. The badges for me have been hit or miss. I stopped using them. The amount of ammonia needed to kill fish would surprise you. Randy, our local chemist here, has a whole study written up about it. Sure is interesting. I will try to source the article and post it here.

And through all of this, I forgot to ask, and missed it in the other posts. Have you been checking on the fishes gills? Are they looking normal pink? I would assume no with the breathing being elevated, but I’ll leave it to you to post the info?

Yes correct. Gill coloration from the insides swollen gills, red and so on tells us gill issues and disease and ammonia all do that.

Ammonia tend do turn red or darker than the pink they normally are.

Parasites will cause swollen, and can also be more pink red.

Bacterial or fungal will possibly cause white gills.

Ammonia can cause fish to go lethargic.

I tell people to do a WC almost every day within the first few weeks if you didn’t have time to do a proper cycle of the tank. Also yes the bio load in a QT can wreak havoc on the bacteria being a QT has minimal filtration and and surface area. Water is basically just circulating and the poop, food, po4 all going around in a circle so the water quality goes down big time.

You don’t have picture of the fish a day or two before this took place. Postmortem and out of water makes it hard to assess what could have been the death of this fish. How long after the fish died did you take this picture.

Gills are a red in color when healthy. White/light pink , dark red towards a maroon, or spots of any sort will tell you there are issues.

I agree, you can’t tell much from a deceased fish out of water.

With the other tang Aldo dying, I’m worried there is some water quality or bacterial disease issue.

What other fish are in the tank?
Can you get a video of them?
