Current USA loop

What types of corals can I grow with this? So far I'm doing a zoanthid and mushrooms and I have heard several say it isn't good for more than this (both of these have never looked better btw). The tank is a 29g biocube and I'm only running one light. Could I add some different corals? Maybe acans, duncan, and some other lps?

It should be fine for Micromussa (acans). You could probably do a duncan at the top near the light. They simply do not produce much PAR. Obviously low light softies are fine as well.

Not sure about chalices, but here is an example of what you can keep with one. My tank is only 12" deep, so you might need two on a 29.

At 12in from the fixture at full power it produces approx 550par.
At a 1:1 color ratio (both even %) it's 20k 20,000 kelvin on my color meter.

Is that the dual bar pro version?
I've been using the standard single bar for the last year but do not have any kind of meter to measure.

That's the single. Should be pretty spot on the the online factory specs.

I'm just surprised, because mine doesn't seem anywhere near that bright.

I metered current loop strip last year at macna it its basically the pro (with lenses ) version. I suppose there may be different ones.
Reall the best way to know is the $15 meter.

Lol I'll meter any light I meet. Don't tell my SB's.

Am I reading this right, 550 PAR at 12 inches, with a current strip light?

Yes. This was the newest light last year. It's the last version of the pro lensd version.

I have two of the non lenses and sold one pro earlier this year. That lenses version was about 100 par less than the new ones.

Basically it's about the same power and an ap700 , butcan sit on top of the tank. They had to rethink it and now offer mounts to raise it up becuse it blasts the tank.

I have to admit, this light has literally totally changed my aquarium, my old stock lighting was terrible ha ha ha (its worst problem was that it created a heat pocket so my aquarium was usually pretty hot, now I can actually control the temperature). My zoa is growing really well, as are my mushrooms and rock anemone, but the best improvement is my fish, (the sole survivor of a novice's journey into the reef hobby [he has survived all my mistakes and is now almost 3-4 years old, he is my favorite fish and the tank is pretty much all about him. He should have the taste of the good life because he has certainly had the taste of the bad]) a royal gramma. His coloration is much brighter and he is so much happier, he's moved into a different sleeping cave though, not sure if that has anything to do with the light. Once I add a ton of coral to the tank I plan on adding a few buddies for him (probably a yellow watchman and two clownfish, plus something really really cool, though not sure what yet). Anyways while that went wayyyy off the lighting topic, my thesis is that my fish and corals love this light.

PS: Saltyfilmfolks I really really love your signature quote, thats probably the best description of aquariums I've ever heard

Any coral that is considered low light should do well;)

I just started a tank with the new 36" orbit marine pro IC. Planning to grow lps and softies. Currently sitting on tank but may mount above

Interested in what light schedules you guys are running these lights at? I am planning to start with 40% blue, 15 % white/green/blue

Just bought the wavemaker pump to go with my loop setup (which kinda sucks because I only ordered this light last week or so and just now the website announced they are giving away a free loop wavemaker with every purchase of my exact light, just bad luck).

Excuse my terrible photography, I'm still using an iPhone 4 (I'm not replacing it until it dies, that money is better spent on fish). That second picture makes my tank almost look bad, the water is crystal clear though and my rock anemone is just grouchy because I turned on the light and woke him up.

You should call them and ask. They might actually give you one since you just bought the light.
