custom Shallow build

I have been out of the hobby for a few years and just like so many other I have made my way back. The plan is medium - lite bioload with LPS heavy corals.


I’m still in the equipment gathering phase but water will be coming soon! Here is my current equipment list, I will update and add photos as new items come in.

Tank - 40”x20”x16” center overflow

Sump - 3 chamber 36”x15”x15”

Vertex Omega 130 Skimmer

Jebao DCP 4000 Return Pump

Eheim Jager 150w heater x 2

Brightwell X Port bricks

Tropic Eden Reef Flake sand

First weekend update is I picked up a MP40 and MP10 last night. I plan on installing them dry today and taking a few pictures.

You did not mention lighting so I will say I have had great results and growth using LEDs after using Metal Halide in the past.

I’m think hydra 26HD but if possible I will go
With xr15 pro with diffusers. I want to go with 12”-16” anbove the water line either way.

As mentioned above I picked up some items last night. I got 1 MP40 and 1 MP10. These pumps look incredible in the tank. In my opinion they are the best looking powerhead out there
I mounted each dead center on the side panels.

My sump was ready Friday evening for pick up and today I bought the remaining dry goods -
XR30 g4 pros x2 with diffusers and rms
A Skimz algae reactor
And a Tunze Osmolator

Last night I tried setting up the lights but the mounts will Not work on my tanks euro bracing. Anyone have some insight on a solution for this?

I’m finishing up some built ins for my living room. Once that’s done I can put my couch back which will free up the spot to build my matching stand. Then the tank can go up. It’s a process...
