Ive had my rocks curing on my blacony for about 3 weeks next week I planned to take them out BUT my house is going to be getting painted tommrow probably and I will have to take them off the balcony. IS it okay to end a cure early? will it mess up the LR? will I have to restart it after I take the rock out of the water?

THANK YOU!

If the rock does not at the very least remain wet than the beneficial bacteria population will die off. Long story short do not let the rocks remain out of water for longer periods of time or completely dry out. Why not just move the container and cover it?

What are you going to do with them? If you let them dry out, yes you will have to start over. If you keep them in water in tubs, you aren't really stopping are you?

well i guess i might just start the tank.... the tub of water is like pretty heavy dont think i could move it....sorry for cussing

i forgot to mention its dry live rock.. does that matter? no coraline on it. I did an almost 100% water change about last weekend.b/c I had 5-10 ppm nitrate

I thought curing was to kill off any extra stuff on the rock?

That's true. If you have dead stuff on the rock then you need to let that break down, and you don't lose that progress.

I was thinking about your cycle, which presumably is three weeks along. Have you been testing for ammonia and nitrites?
