I spent most of my day on Saturday as a photographer at the 3D (Disability, Dream & Do) baseball camp. The one I thought I was doing 2 weeks ago! Most of the kids had a great time. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much the local minor league team players (the Ft Myers Miracle) enjoyed it. The serious surprise was how much I enjoyed it. It was an emotional and fulfilling day! Here are some of my pics:
The 2 guys who plaed professional ball with incredible disabilities. I'm lucky enough to call Dave Clark (on the right) a personal friend for 15 years.
Kids getting to throw the ball.
Kids getting to bat the ball, and some get personalized help from the Miracle players.
Everybody got to 'run' the bases even if they needed a bit of help from the players.
They get to work on their catching skills.
At the end, each child got a turn at the plate, hit the ball, ran the bases and got 'High Fives' from the Miracle players!
At the end the Miracle players signed the special extra soft, softballs for the kids! They also got to met Dave who has a Bronze Metal from the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta as a pitching coach for the Team USA!
And of course there is the obligatory group photo!
