I getting a Fluval evo 5 gallon saltwater tank by Fluval

Pretty dang small for those.

I would recommend smaller fish like hi fin shrimp goby or two spot blenny.

Can you buy a bigger tank instead? I think they make a 14g. That could house a small clown.

While I’m sure a yellowtail damsel wont die in a 5g, you won’t be able to add any other fish and he won’t have much room to swim once rock is in the tank so it’s not really advised for the health of the fish.

At least with a 14g, you could have two small fish or 3 of the smaller species.

okay

As an alternative idea, I used to keep a 5 gallon invert tank for a few years, I had a coral banded shrimp with a few other small snails and crabs, I really enjoyed it and it was easy to maintain. There are many interesting inverts that would be suitable for a 5 gallon.

Look at some gobies. Upside down, links, starry, neon blue, similar. Someone noted pistol shrimp/goby pair is also good. 5 gallons is just the size. You have to factor in rock, any equipment, corals if you add them, etc. There isn't much space for swimming and damsels do move about. More so that they find a piece of territory and that is it.

Well in that case get smallest gobies and blennies.

A small species of shrimp goby with a candy cane pistol is fun to watch.

I had a 5g running for awhile and kept a small goby and small blenny in it.

Here are some examples of small fish:

If you’re really set on having a 5 gallon nano, listen to the others fish suggestions. Wait until you have room for a bigger tank to get clown fish or damsel fish. Neon blue cleaner goby’s and all the other goby’s would be fine in a 5 gallon, or even just a small invert tank would work.

Also, do you plan to have coral?

Make sure to get the marine version of the fluval, it should be able to grow stuff like green star polyp, mushrooms, leathers.

However, don't use tap water, you will need to buy saltwater from the fishstore or mix your own using gallons of distilled water (walmart has it).

Top off with distilled or RODI water from the LFS.

Do you have any fish that other than goby and Blenny

No, most small fish will fall into that category.

They are a lot cooler than Clownfish and Damsels

The shrimp is blind so it forms a relationship with the goby, the goby will watch for danger while the shrimp builds caves (and rebuilds, they never seem to be done) and will alert the shrimp of danger. The shrimp provides a burrow for the goby in return.

Blennies tend to be known for their personalities as they are often curious and animated when settled in. I always laugh when they pick up a hermit crab and spit it across the tank because it got too close to the blennies favorite perch.

Clownfish are known to pick powerheads as a host, bite, and basically look derpy.
