Hello guys, im new here and sorta new to the hobby.

I have a 140 DAS (i know booo), but its set up and I like it OK.

I have a J tube running out the back electrical wire hole down to my sump, its all working well but I need a way to proportion the water being siphoned from the filter box pump out in the display tank to the sump, metering its flow with the ball valve is a pain.

Any idea of off the shelf stuff like an ATO float, or???

If I cant find an off the shelf solution I am thinking this:

Glue a funnel into the opening of the J pipe (3/4" pvc) get a cone shaped stopper that will sink, then attach a bobber or plastic ball that will allow it to float when there is enough water, but drop and seal the hole to meter the flow or seal the pipe if it gets to low so my siphon is not broken and when the water level returns the ball will float the stopper will pull out of the hole and begin metering itself again.

I even went to home depot and looked at toilet fill kits, almost bought one...

Options, thoughts?

I will be installing an ATO soon as well, I am ready for this build to be more hands off like my 115g DAS with the built in overflow.

Thanks Guys!
