Hello All!

This is my first post. I need some help with my aquaman scoly. I got it about 2 weeks ago. Everything in my tank is doing well (except a few corals, but that's unrelated and a whole other story). When I got this scoly it would not eat, but looked healthy, I looked at a few other threads and determined it wasn't anything to worry about but maybe I was wrong. I have lost a scoly before because of a tank crash. This scoly looks like something ate it from the inside. I will post pictures. The flesh looks like its still on, but I am no coral expert. Is it dead? I am thinking it is. None of the scoly threads I have seen have shown any looking like this.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Wow- does not look happy.
Assure moderate light and water flow
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.1-8.3
Nitrate < .4
Ca 440
Alk 8-9
Mag 1300

also elevate off the sand as sand can irritate the coral
Feed 2-3x per week

Here are my results:

Salinity 1.025
ph 7.83
Nitrate <0
Ca 534
Alk 9.0
Mag 1350

I have it in a low flow corner of my tank with moderate light. I had noticed that it had its mouth open quite a bit the past few days before this happened, but it was not 24/7.

I dipped it when I got it, but should I dip it again? I haven't yet because the tissue does not look good and I don't want to end up makin it worse. I'm not even sure if it is alive still.

this, plus lower temps in the mid 70’s
and no higher than 77

these guys come from and area with cold currents
so subsequently,
they fare better in cooler tanks

I have 4 and two of them over 2 years and are in 78-79 temps and many are australian species where waters are in the higher temperature range. There are a couple that can tolerate lower temps but cannot be generalized in the lower range as a recommendation. Place them in a tank and cooler water especially a mixed reef and there will be many unhappy corals.
They are a species that do best under marginal water flow and lighting as bright light is a no-no and target feeding is method feeding method.

Do you still have your scolies at that 78-79 range? that's what I keep my tank at and just got my first scolies (have heater and chiller to keep temps in check and consistent)
