Hi, my lg 15-16 yr old Sailfin was just transferred to a 125 with dry rocks ( some sharp edges) aquascape. Virgin tank, no transfer of old established tank, cycled 2-4 months, Dr Reef Quarantined baby fish added 4 weeks before addition. Upon inspection, found this perfect round spot on her white stripe. I don’t freak out on marks on her or Regal, raised together and heal very quickly with yellow tang scratchers. In 40+ yrs of saltwater. Never saw this before. It’s been 2 weeks, no change and no change in her behavior. We feed everything Vette guy recommends.here’s pics, and thank-you! Debra

I can't tell you exactly what that is, but it isn't one of the contagious diseases - those would have spread and there would be more spots.

I suspect it was an injury from the move / new tank. Missing scales can take a long time to grow back.

Nice looking tang for its age!

Agree with @Jay Hemdal - I also see a white blotch on the black area - and the base of the dorsal fin. As long as everything is stable I would assume injury/scarring?

Thanks so much for your reply, I’ve been monitoring her of course and no change. She does get upset she’s fat,(very wide), so thank-you for her compliment!
You’re the best, Debra

Thanks so much for your attention, been waiting awhile! I have to admit, you freaked me out with your observations! Afraid, dirty front glass and her “finning” up pellets in from the sand are what’s on her! I use my Amazon lighted magnifying glass to check them all! Feeding them June 9th, I blacked out with pellets in hand and broke my femur in 3 places and broke small part of hip. Naturally, between hospital and rehab, it was 6 weeks I missed!!! Couldn’t convince husband to pick up glass and look so I sit with wheelchair (ugh) and watch!! Even do exercises in front to watch so I don’t walk like an old woman haha. I am a fan girl of you for yrs, always read your post. Appreciate you!
