Generally, aquarium algae is harmful for the tank inhabitants, although some algae can be the food for some creatures. But, when we change the ideas and the usage, they can enhance the ornamental value of the aquarium, something like use the green algae to decorate the fish tank.
The 10 gallons tank is an experiment one of growing the green algae in freshwater tank for 3 months.
