@pelphrey I think you're thinking of Emerald Crabs. Excellent way to go. More biology and less technology. Once the algae is gone they will scavenge for uneaten food and poop. Completely reef safe.

Yep, I think you are correct! Thanks for clearing that up!

Why does my BRS mini reactor do this? I noticed it last week, I took it out and cleaned it thinking it was just dirty. Flow going into the reactor is fine. Obviously output is slow since there isn’t much water in the canister.

Have you tried unrestricting the flow? Try Opening up the valve fully for a few minutes then close it back down to desired flow rate.

I did that last night, I opened the valve all the way and let it fill up. After a period of time is emptied again. I also took my finger and plugged the output to let it fill up! haha It is strange! This mini reactor doesn't hold a lot of water, but when I fill it up last night and this morning my ATO kicked on to fill the sump. If I do it a few times it won't matter, but with only 50ish gallons ( I am guessing ) I feel like repeating that process over and over will throw my salinity off. Unless I am overthinking that part!

Gotcha. May simply need more through put but Im not sure... Hopefully BRS chimes in for you.

Came home and it was half full.. or half empty! Haha opened valve all the way and filled it up. Holding steady right now.

On the reactor, the pads could be clogged or you could get thinner or less restrictive pads. And the amount of GAC, you could use less GAC and change out more often.

I’m put less GAC in the reactor last weekend when I took it apart. I also cleaned the sponge!

To verify I did swap the mounting plate around and the input/output is configured correctly!

Big day today... Neptune COR20 got a good cleaning, noticed rust on the inside of the pump.

Glad I swapped Red Sea barb, it was snapped in my soft tubing!
