Hey everyone,
I’m 13 days into my diamond goby being completely MIA. The weird thing is — my sandbed looks somewhat clean, like it’s being lightly sifted in a few spots, but there haven’t been any new mounds, tunnels, or burrow entrances since the day he disappeared.
This is a 30 gallon long tank WITH A LID, so it’s not like he could vanish into a hundred-gallon rockscape — I can see almost every corner and under most of the rocks. There’s been zero movement around his main burrow area, and no sign of him at feeding time, daytime, or even late at night with a flashlight.
My firefish and Blenny were using his main entrance for a while so i blocked it off cause I believed he was getting pushed back further and further by their constant activity in there.
All my parameters are stable:
• Ammonia: 0.0
• Nitrite: 0.0
• Nitrate: around 5
• Phosphate: 0.20
• Alkalinity: 8.9
• Calcium: high (around 600, likely from molts)
• Magnesium: 1540
• Salinity: 1.025
No ammonia spikes or anything that would suggest he died under the rocks, but also no proof he’s alive. The only hint is that the sand looks a bit too clean for just the snails and hermits — but I can’t be sure.
I want to add another fish soon butI don’t want to until I know what’s up with him.
