Hello,

Had my tank up and running for two weeks after completing the cycle. Lights were off for the cycle and I have only had them running for two weeks. Started seeing the algae less than a week ago. I’m using RODI and getting 0 TDS water. Caribsea Fiji pink sand and Marco dry rock with some caribsea life rock. Looks to me like I have diatoms but not sure where I’m getting the silicates. Shouldn’t the rock and sand be silicate free? Look forward to your input and advice.

Algae bloom? Do diatoms mean cyano and hair algae follow? I assume these all run their course on their own. I’ve had a saltwater tank before but never had this (maybe because I used live rock) Thanks.

Yep. Just let them run their course. Enjoy the journey. I’d do a 10% water change per week. That’s it. Maybe suck out gunk every now and then.

Tank looks nice BTW.
