I was thinking of starting a culture of live blackworms. My main goal in feeding live blackworms is because I have a lot of tangs and I want to reduce stress and encourage a feeding response so the immune system can fight any potential infection or parasite.

Is there really any difference from culturing these blackworms myself vs buying a pack of LRS food which contains blackworms and probiotics added?

Also, is blackworms even the best option for getting fish to eat and increase health?

Agree with @vetteguy53081 , but also realize black worms are a freshwater worm and only live for a short period of time in saltwater. The other thing with black worms is that it is like the filet mignon of foods for your fish. They love black worms like piranha at feeding time. I've always had great success with frozen. My wife is more acceptable to a frozen flat in the freezer then a cup of squiggle black worms in the refrigerator...

With tangs you will probably do better with Nori and LRS. I feed live white worms and a few of my tangs (clown, tomini) don't eat them at all.
If you have other fish they will probably appreciate them though.

This! I did more research last night and I learned that the more algae in surgeonfish’s diet the better.

Mysis shrimp
Spirulina brine shrimp
Hikari mega veggie diet

Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract

add selcon vitamins and garlic extract to the foods for stamina and immunity health
