Diluting ammonium bicarbonate/urea solution?

I’m needing to move my dosing from a precision 2ml/min pump to a less precise 25ml/min pump. I’ve been dosing 0.2ml five times a day. Can I dilute the stock solution my 10 and dose the same amount of ammonium and urea, just in five 2ml doses?

I’m just curious if that weak of a solution will cause any issues, or will it be fine? Otherwise I can keep the same solution and just use dose 1ml one time a day.

Right now my stock solution is 20g ammonium bicarbonate and 4g urea in 1 liter RODI.

Bacteria might grow in it. Even higher strength it might, due to the urea.

I may try it and see. With the 250ml dosing container, I’ll use it up in 25 days, so that may help since it won’t sit for months.

You can dilute most solutions but not the other way and make it more concentrated because you can run into solubility problems.

There are some studies about stability of urea in solution over long time so I would not make large solutions of urea.

Urea is super soluble in water. Precipitation of it is no concern.

It’s not about solubility or precipitation it about breakdown of urea over time wnd conditions.

At pH 6 or higher, the half life is more than a month. The hydrolysis products appear to be ammonia and CO2. Thus, combining urea with ammonium bicarbonate appears to not be a problem unless one wants to store it a long time..
