Hey Yall So My Tank is around 4-5 months old and recently started growing this brown algae. I had a dino outbreak a couple months ago. Defeated them with complete black out and did a half water change after (30 Gallon tank did 15 gallon change) . Then added new rock (aquacultured) and a couple fish thinking tank was somewhat mature and ready to have fish inside. Then after I started noticing brown spots all over the tank. No idea what it is. don't have a microscope to specify. Any feedback appreciated. Thank you

any pics? Otherwise I am straight guessing , gonna say you have low nitrates if you noticing a lot of brown algae

My thoughts without pictures , Dinos never were defeated, they simply were limited due to competition but rest assured, they never were completely gone. What’s likely happened is they’re able to multiply and they’re beating the competition for some reason. I would start with adding Rotifers and making sure nutrients are up but not elevated. Live phyto can help and pods pods pods, load up and outnumber the Dino’s quickly. Also check Aquatop UV in tank filters on Amazon for $100, they help can knock out Dino’s quickly especially in small systems

I have dosed phyto and copepods as well before and I do have a UV filter , Green killing machine to be exact. what are some good places I can buy nutrients and copepods? Online preferably

Do you have photos?

Rusya, before you do anything, how are your lights setup? If they are setup for a heavy blue spectrum with no white and reds, algae that's actually green will appear brownish. I usually shine an old-style standard flashlight ( not LED) in my Tank to get a better representation of what I'm looking at.
