That material is certainly good enough, yes. Just use it slowly when boosting magnesium substantially since it may have some ammonia in it.

You can also get it from places like BRS. :)

Obviously written by a non English speaker, but the description is amusing...

"Even if according to ICP analysis, the heavy metal (PB, AS, HG) of the product can be ignored. "

"The component of DANDO premium ice melt is naturally evaporated from unpolluted salt water located 14,000 feet above sea level in the Tibetan plateau. "

HAHAHA. IKR? I didn't buy it because of the broken English ;)

I did take a look at the SDS before purchasing, and I found it to be comparable to other natural evaporation products out there. The issue with these will always be some vagueness with respect to exact chemical composition. If that bothers the aquarist, then they should look to purchase material with more precise chemical analyses.

While I have your attention! If my local store has dowflake xtra, is it still safe to use? I see the purity % is slightly higher so I imagine I would have to either increase the amount of water or lower the amount of dowflake.

Thanks for your assistance!

Just curious how this is working out for you. I haven't had much luck in finding the MAG Flake product by Dead Sea works that is commonly recommended. I bought a container of magnesium chloride branded as Vaporizer from Kmart last night. But I'm a little nervous to use it because the recommended MAG Flake is actually magnesium chloride hexahydrate. Do you know if that makes a difference?

It's been working well with no issues. I even gave some to a reefer buddy to try.
