The old RO 150's had a larger pump. It looks like the one I have at home. And you don't want the skimmer and return in the same chamber because you want a constant water level floor the skimmer or you will never get it tuned right. Wetter level should be around 7 to 8 inches btw.

Ok My replacement pump is an Aquatrance. More than few on line. Certainly allowed me to make the skimmer section smaller.

Looks similar to my sump setup. Here's how mine is configured... works well so far!

interesting takes on baffles . Crabs has the skimmer to ref wall split & Vector has 2 angled baffles.

Speaking of the adapters. I just screwed the pump straight to the skimmer ! Now the Lady told me it would work just fine. she was right. the adapter is a elbow to set the pump on the bottom. So my skimmer does lean toward the pump when water is low. ( when skimmer is off) . With water it it sits just fine. Also it's a straight shot into skimmer. No rise & less friction to slow the flow.

They make acrylic filter sock holders that slide right in, or if youre handy you can make one out of scrap acrylic. Hard part is making the hole.

If you are going with miracle mud in the second chamber you definitely need to reverse your bubble trap baffles, you cant have water exiting the bottom of the fuge if there is substrate there, you'll have a huge mud mess. If you want the fuge in the front you need another baffle or something to break the water or your miracle mud will be flying all over the place.

I honestly don't think it matters if the fuge is in the first chamber or second. IMO nutrients are throughout the tank, they dont just all of a sudden drastically decrease after the skimmer. Because of this I would have the first chamber as the skimmer section and you don't have to worry about the turbulence of the water entering the sump and also saving space. You can also control (as shown in the first pic) the height at which the water enters the fuge (~6" above the bottom).

All kinds of ways to build a fuge, just my 2 cents.

Actually I like Vectors diagram I’m fonna turn the skimmer around backwards and have the water entering the sump through the filter socks right onto the skimmer pump

Yep! I found it keeps the loose cheato pieces from clogging the skimmer pump, and there's still going to be plenty of nutrients for it to absorb anyway. Good luck with your setup! I'm glad my diagram was helpful.
