Do some chalices not do it for you?

I know this has more to do with personal choices than anything else, but certain "collector" chalices just don't do it for me. Am I alone on this?

Over the last few years of keeping chalices, I have learned that I really enjoy contrasting mouths from the body; and if they have a rim, thats even better. I've never got into the "all mixed up chalice" thing, but I do have the wanted coming in a trade as it caught my eye awhile back.

There for awhile, I wanted everything that was out, but since I've started to thin the heard, I have become more selective in getting new corals.

Just looking for an open discussion.

I too prefer contrasting mouths and the rim definately is a plus for me. I like 4 color or 3 color vivid contrasting colors the best. IE Crazy Fox or 4 colors like the ECC Hybrid. My Miami and many other watermelons.

There have been many that have come along that we didn't think were all that great that were high priced. We mainly go on what we like such as body color, eye color, rim or not, etc. I guess just more personal taste be it a LE, cololectors edition or whatever. Just my opinion.

It depends on that one. I have seen it look dull and grey but in the right conditions when its a nice light blue and has the hot pink eyes or the different color eyes coming in I think it looks nice.

AGREED!!! I'm a big fan of watermelons myself. I'm gonna pick up a couple "mixed up" ones though as I want a little variety. Some others like the Golden Galaxy and Melting Pot just don't float my boat.

The more I see seems like the more I stay away. Alot of the newer ones just do nuttin for me but Ive ended up with a few thru trades then I end up trading them off.
Maybe its just there beening pushed to hard to see who has the best. Dont get me wrong I like some of them but not enough to spend the money for them guess I just like the Old School ones better

Honestly that will be my last frag for awhile, someone wanted a big chunk of it (I posted a pic of the frag if your curious in my current FS) so it took a good amount away from the colony so do not want to cut it anymore..

I'm with you, Mark, on the colors. The mixed up color crayon ones grab your attention at first because they are different, but my tendency is back to the ones that have the even colors with distinct eye shadows and potentially a rim color.

It reminds me of plaid or tie-dyed clothing....catches your attention with all the colors and patterns, but most will not or should not wear it.:wink:
