Can anybody honestly say they enjoy their tanks? I mean sit back and marvel at what you created without dealing with some problem.

I for one am tired of the constant algea problems be it GHA, Bryoptis, Bubble algea. Dinoflagellates,Cyano, etc.

I have been fighting Dinos for over a year. I have tried everything that I read as to how to beat it. Blackouts, phyto dosing, bacteria dosing, 4 different brands, vacuuming, raising water temp, $600.00 in cuc, which is now 90% dead, you name it I've tried it.

So I finally reached my breaking point and started dosing Dino X. I have dosed it 2 times over 4 days as recommended by manufacturer. Only to wake up this morning to find one of my favorite corals Farmer Ty Lotus Blossom bleached white.

All parameters are in range and I do ICP testing bi- monthly and generally come back with only few trace elements low.

I don't mind the maintinance or husbandry we all do.

I would just like to be able to enjoy without fighting a problem.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Right now = YES,,, but it kinda ebbs and flows...

It sucks when you're dealing with issues you like you mentioned, especially when you have other things going on and need to be able to just ignore it.

Right now, everything is pretty hands off and going smoothly -- we'll see how long that lasts.

Right now? it's hard to truly enjoy my tank when it has nothing in it. However, when it was up and running and I had minimal issues, yeah I would say I enjoyed it.

It nets positive for me. Stocking fish has been an emotional whirlwind. Getting my fish is a joy and incredibly gratifying. Quarantining them and fielding diseases is terrifying and stressful. Ultimately, the fish are in the display and seeing the result of that stress, the trials and tribulations, feels good. It'll suck tomorrow and feel better the next day and rinse and repeat.

It feels like anything else in life, or life in totality: it's never a snapshot but a feeling of a continuum. At least for me.

I love walking in the house and seeing my tank in full lighting, the corals glowing, and clean glass. I frequently say, I love my tank. I have a 30gallon and have my issues, but at that size, I love tinkering. I think the size just doesn't overwhelm when the inevitable problems crop up. I take time to sit in front of it each day and just watch life.

Today's an exciting day as I have crabs coming to help out with the hair algae. I'll be like a kid all day waiting for the UPS Santa.

for the past two months i have hated my tank, we sold our house, and decided to upgrade from a 125 to 300 at the time of the move. big mistake. move was a **** show, new house is 200+ years old, fish and corals went into a 45g frag tank and horse trough. Plans were only to have them there for 2-3 days. This turned into 3-4 weeks. lost 7 fish and half my corals. Took almost 2 months to get the 300g fully up and "running". i should have just moved he 125 and worked on the 300g when i had time.

i still havent added sand, aquascaped, set up the controller, finished the stand, mounted the lighting correctly.

but as of this past week i did finally get to sit down and just watch the tank. I miss my fish. tank seems empty with only 6 small to medium fish. But i do remember why i love this hobby, and when its done i will be able to enjoy it for a very long time.

Yea, it's not nice if there are serious issues or serious annoyances, but I like to look at it keeping me busy. With a challange there is always room to improve. In reality If my tank has nothing to work on then it gets boring for me personally, and then I would change the stocking again or something. Had some Cyano bacteria that would come just as fast as I could get rid of it. Although, my ladder glider goby is doing the trick now as a permanent sand sweeper. You have a reason to be upset for sure, but I try to look at it like well atleast I have something to do and I have a fishtank in the first place to be irritating me in the first place. 😂

Eh, it’s summer time. Not much time to sit in front of anything right now. I just do the maintenance and let the tanks do their thing. Sometimes it’s easier to restart a tank than constantly dealing with issues though.

I enjoy my tank more than I don’t enjoy it, but like you said, it’s a rare event when everything in the tank is doing well, and there aren’t any concerns. Maybe what I really enjoy is the challenge of keeping it running and beating the odds rather than the tank itself.

I'm tinkering with my new tank and have an 8g nano I'm getting ready to fill. I'm doing stuff at night and trying to be outside during the day after a long winter.
My other tanks are cruising along smoothly for now so I'm not dealing with any problems at this time.
It sucks when there's a problem tank. I was fortunate when I was battling GHA for over a year I had other tanks doing good so I could still enjoy the hobby.
I had a seam fail before I beat the GHA and tore the tank down.
