Do you ever give negative feedback?

I also don't leave positive feedback if it was not a good experience overall.

I agree can't lie.

I ordered from a sponsor here on a WYSIWYG site I ordered several small frags got the order & 1 was missing & the others didn't look anything like what I had ordered. emailed them they said they were sorry new guy messed up order & would resend that day. got them & they still were not the ones I ordered. now they maybe the same kind but they def. are not the wysiwyg ones I ordered
I cannot tell if they are the right ones because they almost have no color just sorta a muddy color. I am not good with this sorta thing I have 9 corals & paid for 5 but they have no color. I didn't complain because first I really have a hard time complaining because I got more than what I paid for but I want to complain because I really don't know if I have the ones I paid for and they have no color so how would you all handle this type of situation?

Check the skeletons (when polyps are deflated) and compare. Also compare the size, shape, and number of polyps. Corals changing colors is not the vendors fault but selling wysiwyg frags that are not wysiwyg is not cool.

I think feedback should be left in private and at times in public. Definetely give the vendor an opportunity to address any issues first dont go straight to a messageboard, but personally for those of you who feel it is "rude" to post negative publicly are doing us all a disservice. Most of all I think it hurts the many quality vendors that are out there. If the only feedback people leave in public are the positive ones then "Saintly Coral Company" is on nearly the same footing as "Screw the Customer and Get Rich Quick" company because nobody knows about all the bad experiences. I am not saying a vendor should be raked over coals in public just cause you got a DOA in your shipment or there was a misunderstanding and they made good faith efforts to resolve the issue. There are bad vendors out there and it is best that we all know who they are (I have ordered from a wide variety of vendors and in all but a couple cases had very positive transactions; there have been a couple though that I wish I had been warned away from).

I hope to be able to work with all companies and personally don't want to create any bad blood. I agree its a very tough situation. I feel like I may be alienating a company if I give bad feedback in private. They will be less inclined to work with the 'unhappy' customer. I try to collect the sweetest rare corals that are in the highest demand. I don't know which company will get the next crazy piece. What if it was the company I gave negative feedback to and they no longer want to sell me the exclusive frag?

We feel that you should leave feedback based on your experience. We also believe if you have had a bad experience or are unhappy about something you should contact the vendor first and give them a chance to make things right. We love to hear feedback about us. Positive or negative. It only makes us better!

Thats why I like dealing with WWC and you Chris! It must be hard work with all that positive feedback :)

I did check and they were not the ones I ordered. why isn't it the vendors fault the corals have only a muddy brown color? just trying to understand this because I see alot of people showing off the new corals they just got and they aren't muddy brown. How would anyone know what they were getting if you have to wait for months to see what color color the coral would become?

There are a lot of factors that can change coral color, from changing the type of bulb in the same fixture, to completely different types of lighting. A point source like MH will change the colors of your corals compared to a t5 or LED. I have gotten the brightest corals (acans are bad for this) that were amazing in the picture, lost all their pigment while in shipping, and then will take months to develop color again. If your buying frags from wild colonies, it will be way more common for them to change color. Ask the vendor and learn about what your buying first so you can make an educated decision. Aquacultured will generally change colors less.

I wish feedback had a better structure somehow, because both positive and negative feedback would greatly assist everyone in choosing who and what to buy from who and where. Problem is negative feedback is often done before the vendor has had a chance to fix it, which devolves the constructive purpose of it, this usually tends to also generate a mob affect of "oh yea, me too! lets all vent now!" Obviously this sorta stuff isn't the feedback I'm looking for as a consumer.

Second problem is these vendors aren't some random corporation, but people. Mistakes happen, and given the chance to fix it, most will. What I wish more people would do is acknowledge both positively and negatively way vendors do steady businness, as opposed to when they make a mistake, or a random event happens (shipping error or something.) If a vendor is consistently sending out corals that melt, it would do the entire community good to know. Similarly if a vendor has shipping practices that are way above the standard, or way bellow, it would be good to know.

I can think of an example where I purchased from a vendor here who shipped corals in a good fashion, but a few of the bigger pieces were not in adequate conditions for my taste. The smaller pieces were no big deal, but the bigger pieces weren't as well suited to the method. Problem is if I post it, it'd probably come off as bashing the vendor, when in fact they weren't severely messing anything up. however, if I could post it in such a way that others who had similar sentiments could agree, wouldn't it be better for the whole community, including the vendor?

So yea, I don't post negative as either 1: it's been a severe problem and in every instance the reef2reef sponsors have fixed it, or 2: it's not a severe problem, but I'd rather not bring it up because it could be seen as such and due to (1) I'd rather not put that image on a sponsor.
