Do you quarantine anemone - POLL !

curious thoughts on anemone and qt. Currently have first corals in a qt and debating on time frames. What are you looking for with anemone if it’s longer qt?

Two weeks for nems for free swimmers (of fish disease) to die off. I don’t believe anything can attach to them to need a long fallow.

I read this, but the more I keep reading the more contradicting everything feels. I read someone say you can still get Aiptasia and other pest with 16 days.

Mainly because we’re quarantining everything else (and questioning my commitment long term). I did read they don’t hold the fish illnesses but I’m reading mixed info on pest and other issues. So who knows

You don’t think they’re likely to bring anything else in after that time? I read some say they can still bring bacteria, worms or aiptasia in on their foot that goes unnoticed. But then other claim against that.

I have two in a quarantine batch, but I’m adding new frags so resetting the clock - debating to do a longer qt or just put them in the tank and let them thrive better, sooner

I'm not sure a healthy desirable anemone could bring in something like an Aptasia. That would mean that the Aptasia was growing on the flesh of the other anemone, and something tells me that doesn't happen. Unlike when you get a coral frag on a plug, and Aptasia may well be growing on the plug, but not, I believe, the coral itself.

I'd QT for fish disease either way, and certainly inspect for any organisms that should not be on the anemone.

I QT them until I think they are healthy. Several weeks at least.

I do a 40 min acclimation. And done. The feet is what holds rocks and things of that sort. I have seen pods and bristle worms on rocks attached to them. But I clean the foot and in my DT they go.
