Sadly I don’tDo you have a microscope? That would narrow things down considerably.
Wait how would you see it? You would need to scrape it off right?Do you have a microscope? That would narrow things down considerably.
Yep. A thin layer in a drop of water and take a look at the cellular structure. Dinos, diatoms, algae.....They look different at this level of magnification.
Do you think these are dinos or diatoms?Yep. A thin layer in a drop of water and take a look at the cellular structure. Dinos, diatoms, algae.....They look different at this level of magnification.
Makes sense.. Do you think microscope is a good thing to own? Probably yea huh to be able to identify everythingYep. A thin layer in a drop of water and take a look at the cellular structure. Dinos, diatoms, algae.....They look different at this level of magnification.
To start with this query (sorry, I read right over it) does the problem seem to go away in the daytime and disappear when it's lights out? That's an easy Dino species to worry about.Do you think these are dinos or diatoms?

Raise your phosphate and nitrate because low nutrients can fuel Dino’s.
Yes I believe so. It was weird since it seemed like just yesterday or the day before there was nothing and today It seemed like a bunch of them appearedTo start with this query (sorry, I read right over it) does the problem seem to go away in the daytime and disappear when it's lights out? Also, How would you suggest to get rid of them? My tank Was setup at the beginning of March so I heard it lacks biodiversity so I added phytoplanktonTo start with this query (sorry, I read right over it) does the problem seem to go away in the daytime and disappear when it's lights out? I also reduced my light hours and intensity and will begin to feed more and planning to add podsAlso, How would you suggest to get rid of them? My tank Was setup at the beginning of March so I heard it lacks biodiversity so I added phytoplankton
Yes, it is a great thing to have. Takes reefing to a whole new level. I bought mine from Ebay from a clearance house. It was a nice Nikon from a college for maybe $100. Probably a couple thousand when new.Makes sense.. Do you think microscope is a good thing to own? Probably yea huh to be able to identify everything
Well, if it's going away and then coming back, then you've probably got Ostreoposis (Dinos). How to get rid of? You've got a couple of options. One is to remove manually and let it run its course. I'm not sure how old your tank is, but this can be chalked up to a phase. You could just let your biome reestablish. Secondly, Ostreopsis is sensitive to UV. And that's a good thing! Also, How would you suggest to get rid of them? My tank Was setup at the beginning of March so I heard it lacks biodiversity so I added phytoplankton
Ok thanks and my tank was filled March 3rdWell, if it's going away and then coming back, then you've probably got Ostreoposis (Dinos). How to get rid of? You've got a couple of options. This was it about a week agoCan we see a full tank pic? Do you have powerheads in the tank? A one month old tank is going to start seeing biofilm and micro algae grow right about now. To me its too early to reduce the light and start feeding more, IMO feeding more will turn into algae
I have a wavemaker on the left and i notice its just on right sideOk thanks and my tank was filled March 3rd
