Hey guys so i have 10gallon reef tank with two clowns Amphiprion polymnus also known as saddle back clown and a regular clown the saddle back i take is the female since she’s like like 3 times the size of the male

So i was told by a fellow friend at my local fish store that the saddle back requires a bubble tip anemone to host

She’s gotta very territory and aggress snipping at my cleaner shrimp and blood shrimp people told me she wants to host so i want to get her the proper anemone i currently have a rock flower anemone and a long tentacle anemone some advice would help

10 gallons is too small for a bubble tip. They need more room, and water quality tends to be a problem in tanks that small, which would prevent an anemone from being successful long-term.

Eventually I’ll be moving over into a 32 biocube and a smallish bubble tip won’t be an issue

IME a saddleback does really well with a big old sebae anemone and carpet as well.

Edit: Just noticed 10g. Might need at least ~30g tank.

Clowns are weird, while some prefer to host to anemones, you will have some clowns hosting everything from Duncan’s, hammers to even powerheads. Some don’t even host. Ever.

With that being said, you do not need to get an anemone for them to be happy and live long. Get one if your tank is mature, parameters stable and YOU want it.

I for one am grateful for the posts on what seems to sound a decline in livestock care from them which has me wondering about future purchases from them.

*Sorry if I've gone off topic.

But its good to receive all input good and bad.

Carpets alittle big for mine maybe I’ll do it in the 30

If mature the Sebae might become too large as it matures or if a large is sent.

Saddlebacks can tend to be a bit rowdy and be overzealous in its anemone. I've not had a BTA which would allow the hosting of one.

I do like a saddleback and they are beautiful.

Like others have said you don't really have the tank for any nems. The only one I would try would be a bta but it is going to be difficult in that small of a tank. The other nems will need something bigger then a 30 too. Once you get into the carpets and sebaes you need 100 plus usually. They grow massive.
