Does Purple-up Actually Work???

I would like to get purple of for my tank do help my coraline growth. Does it actually work???

ARC Purple Helix and Pink Fusion are the actual spores. Products like Purple Up are Alk and Ca supplements and as noted you are better off maintaining them.


ARC sales are on hold as they have have repurposed their marine research facility to make PPE for the medical community. You can sign up for an email to get on the waitlist if you want to dose coraline spores later.

Keep scraping and crushing it where it shows up in places where don't want it so the spores can end up on your rocks.

Just keep magnesium and strontium levels where they should be bad u should see coraline building up.

purple up is snake oil, there are other products that are better but as has been mentioned maintaining adequate and stable levels of magnesium and carbonates will be better.

U are bettter off using coral up not purple up as calcium and mag and strontium all I one. Works great for me . Thx

FWIW - I had a major issue after a tank disaster - with nuisance algae (I used a product - which was supposed to be coral safe - but resulted in a wipe out) - I thought - what do I have to lose - I used Purple up - and Seriously - All of my rocks are now covered with coralline algae (after about 4 weeks) - I do no other supplementation. No more nuisance algae at all - and No other issues - It was the best investment I ever made - from a supplement perspective - Highly recommended - It certainly won't hurt (IMO)

I was mistaken - I was not using 'Purple up' - I was using 'Purple Helix' - which contains corralline algae spores, etc - it worked well (or seemed to) - so I apologize - I do not have an opinion on Purple up.
