Hey guys,

Would a species only Domino Damsel setup be possible or a complete disaster?
I know they are indeed aggressive and territorial, but wasn't sure if a species only and the right number of them would make it possible or would I simply end up with one specimen remaining.

How big of a tank are you wanting to do this in? My guess is this is shaping up to be a fighting ring for the fish just because of how territorial they can be.

They get 4" - 5" long so I'd use at least a 75 for a pair. They also lose they're white spot and turn more a grayish color. Not a fish I'd select for a species tank.

I had a trio of cloudy damsels pretty similiar, down to 2 cause one got sucked into a pump but they coexisted together in a 135 gallon. They'd lay eggs and one would watch the eggs and the other 2 would swim together one day and the next theyd be bickering amongst themselves. But they'd kill anything smaller than them and we're menacing. I called them the wolf pack.

The two reside currently with my undulated trigger. But like someone said they get dull colored as they get older.

Honestly if you’re determined to do a damsel species only tank I’d make it at least 90 gallons and try using chromis as they tend to be less aggressive overall. And they’re much more attractive.

🏆 Nastiest Fish I Ever Owned Award

I grew one out to full size in a 150-gallon. Actually a good looking fish, all-in-all. But it would defend its 1-foot radius against my Emporor Angel, etc. I couldn't imagine a tank filled with them. (But "if" it worked, it would be awesome.)
