Drain

This is a somewhat stupid/silly question.

I'm in a new house and am working on a lot of plumbing more permanent set up compared to when I was in an apartment.

I'm about to install a RO filter in my "hot water closet" and run a line from there across the garage and then through the wall to behind the aquarium.

My question is... while I could in theory access a drain line to use for wastewater, does anyone have a thought on what would happen to my grass if I ran a wash water line back to the closet and then tapped into the overflow drain for the hot water tank that runs through the wall and dumps into the lawn? Just not sure if the salt water would kill the lawn... and since my neighbor's lawn is 12 feet from the side of the house... not wanting to kill theirs either...

Are you talking about a drain for the waste water from the R/O (which would be fine) or a drain from tank (which would be bad)?

RO water has no salt in it :) ...so it's not going to hurt the lawn. However, it may result in an area of your lawn being soggy, with very green and fast growing grass. It will be about like how the yard does at the condensate drain from your HVAC unit, but worse.
