Have had several torch’s and hammers for a bit, 6-7 months any typically they’re flowing Great, came back from a day trip -and the return pump seized and stopped running, water quality dropped significantly and corals are currently stiff and not swaying at all. Others are semi revealing themselves. Dark tissue, but still have their bright color up top.

40 gallon IM
10 gallon sump

Temp-76°f
salinity - 1.025
Ammonia - 0.3 ‼️
Nitrite - 0.1
Nitrate - 0.37‼️
Phosphate - 0.3‼️
PH-8.3
Calcium -425
Alk-5dkh ‼️
Mag-1280

Did a 40% water change immediately - looking for the logical next steps. any insight would be very helpful!!

Are you using any power heads? I have had the 40 IM, and the pump had stopped but Alk never dropped to 5.
The larger water change seems like the common sense intervention.
Perhaps run some new charcoal.

Take a look at the skeleton to see if you see a new bright white ring.
Or ... even dissolving tissue and pieces hanging of.

If not... I guess you are fine.
If so... post a pic of that damage and post here.

Yes, using powerheads, but have a lot of bioload on tank - water changed. Will run some new charcoal. Thank you for the suggestion!!

Looks like your parameters were all whack and that caused the downturn. Water change should get them back on track. Though your nitrates are low in my opinion.

Odd your alk is that low to begin with.

Need pictures to confirm if they are goners.
Will attach photos shortly!

Accidents happen. Your corals are stressed. Try to repair the water situation.
Do not dip corals as this will stress further.

I dont think a day trip and a broken return pump can do this. That ammonia number seems high, and the ALK is so low it is hard to believe.

If you've stayed on top of water changes this has to be a testing error I would think.

Update - did a 40% water change and tested the system the past three days everything is balancing out calcium was just very high, at the moment all corals are looking perfect and levels are looking great!
