I got a Kenya tree it’s pretty small

It’s already opening up and my GsP still hasn’t

Are you sure it's a kenya tree? That's exactly what my xenia looks like when its closed up.

The piece on the left does not look like xenia to me. If that is what the larger piece looks like then it probably is a kenya tree. Wait until tomorrow and upload a picture once it's opened fully.

I remember when I was new to reef keeping and got a 1 inch piece of gsp and that has now turned into covering practically all my rocks from side to side and growing on the back glass too. It’s pretty stuff, just depends how much of it you want in your tank.

Yeah, I’m looking to get a carpet of it

From my personal experience when i first started out and used to have crazy parameter swings, high phosphate, high nitrate, algae everywhere, the easiest to hardest in the BEGINNER category is gsp, pink creeping xenia, pulsing xenia, kenya trees, SOME zoas, blastos, acans, acan echinata, leathers and hammers, in that order specifically.

Mostly every thing else WILL DIE if you dont have ideal water parameters.

Buy some Florda Ricordeas. Rock Flower Anemones are also super colorful and easy, although not really a coral, they're really easy to care for. Photosynthetic Gorgonians are easy and pretty Hardy. I'd stay away from Xenia and easily spreading corals. Leather corals like Finger Leathers and Green Sinularia are easy. Here's a pic of my tank, Rock Flowers towards the bottom, some green Ricordeas and a big purple finger leather in the top right. Super easy to care for and very Hardy.

Without fail, when I see pictures of tanks with luxurious growth of GSP, or shrooms, or other softie weeds the "whole set-up" is up for sale, b.o., or trade for an sps tank.

There must be a reason?
