Eb8 vs eb832

Being in the market for apex I see that most of the issues with apex is the eb832.

1. What is the difference between eb8 and 832?

2. Can I just get the apex head unit and a EB8?

And yes, the Apex head unit can be purchased separately and used with any model of EnergyBar.

The EB832 has 8 relay controlled outlets, 3 1link ports, and 2 24V DC ports.

The EB8 has 6 triac controlled outlets and 2 relay controlled outlets.

The apex will work just fine with the EB8 and you can get a separate 1link module if you need the 1link ports and 24V DC ports.

Can the 24 v be used to power

my understanding now is that if I want to run heaters on apex I should use Eb8? And use the 832 for lower power items?
My last apex was a apex JR super basic but it was solid! To much rust to trust now.

It depends on the size of your heaters. The EB832 has a limit of 7 amps on each 120v outlet, and a total load limit of 15 amps for the whole EB832.

The EB8 has 6 outlets with a 5 amp limit each, and two outlets with a 10 amp limit each. Again, the overall limit for the whole unit is 15 amps.

The 24v outlets can be used to control a PMUP, Solenoid, or any DIY 24v accessory.

EB8 is made in a metal housing feels rock solid. EB832 is plastic and has cheap capacitors that will fail after a power surge. Specifically if you have a power outage and the power comes back on. Bam EB832 is toast. If your warranty is out (1 year) then your out of luck.

Thanks for all the info.
I picked up a Apex gold and a Eb8 for 120.
this will do 80% of what I need. Once tank is up and running I’ll look into getting a new head unit and trident.
