Just really looking for some general information or what other people have experienced success with. I have 3 Gen 3 Ecotech's running on our 180 (6'x2'x2'). They are mounted on standard RMS or whatever arms so it is right at 7" from the lid (screen tops) to the light. It's 99.99% a fish tank but we do have 3 corals now. 1 duncan that we've had since the beginning and has exploded in growth. We've added in the last two weeks a Kenyan tree coral and a WWC pandora zoa.
I think our lighting as far as the spectrum is set up well, just wondering if we should up the intensity or change the duration. They've always been running at about 40% intensity and anywhere from 8 to 11 hours a day (counting moonlight, sunrise, sunset, etc). Since the duncan isn't really picking it was always more about controlling algae growth and stuff. But since we have the two new corals (and I think zoas like higher light levels?) and the CuC we have now destroys any algae growth (thank you based jesus for mexican turbo snails lol) should I increase the intensity or change up the length any?

See if you can get your hands on a hobby-grade PAR meter and see where you are at. I would want to be 100 in the sand with those lights and 250-300, or so, up higher. If you do need to change them, go slow.

I'll see if i can find one to borrow. I definitely don't want to invest in one as I don't see us ever really being heavy into corals, we will probably always stick to just a couple, very hardy types. Until fish decide to eat them of course. Thankfully I think we kept our fish so well fed they don't even think about nipping at corals.
