I'll be mounting two radions over a 65gal mixed reef. This tank has had T5s, then AIs and as of Thursday night, Radions. I will post pictures and give my opinion on how my corals respond and what I think about the units. I sell both Ecotech and AI so don't have anything to gain by promoting either. Hopefully this will be a good thread for those who are considering the Ecotechs.

Awesome. I like there idea of independent reviews and even more so when we can see the results(or lack of) via thread pictures. Thanks!

Following along as well. Bought my AI's about 2 weeks before Ecotech announced the release of there LED's. Hoping I made at least a comparable purchase.

I've had mine since last week but haven't put them up. One issue is that I already have light poles in place that I've hung my previous fixtures (Elos Planet II, AI Sol Blues and ATI Powermodule) from. It irks me that there's not yet off the shelf bracket. I finally went to home depot and bought the aluminum parts that everyone else seems to be using. I cut and painted them over the weekend but they look like crap. I'm not handy and it's already taken me a couple of hours.

Ecotech, I'd gladly plunk down $40 for a hanging bracket that costs you $5 to make.

Following! Why 2? Thats $1500 worth of lights for 65g.
2 due to mounting them in a canopy rather than hanging them. I ran 2 AI's in the same canopy. I want all other factors to remain unchanged, same corals, same skimmer, same tank. That way I can compare the AI's Vs. the Ecotechs.

i saw the new radion over the weekend mounted next a vertex and ai sol suber blue. The radion def proved to be significantly brighter to the human eye than the other two. Of course that is pretty much what is expected. The spectrum to the human eye also did not look much different considering the green and red leds.

One thing for sure is they def look great aesthetically.

Tagging along too..........thank you very much doing this for us to compare and then buy the right fixture for our tank.

BTW: how do you like LED compared to running T5's in the past?

I loved my T5's when I used them. I always used ATI bulbs and had great growth and color. I swapped to LED for the power savings, $ savings on bulbs, and because I am always wanting to try new technology to see if it works (which has gotten me in hot water with my wife plenty of times.) When I first moved over to the AI's, I committed the common error of running them at to high of an intensity. The corals bleached initially, but after lowing the intensity they regained their colors. After acclimating and getting the LED's dialed in, the corals colors intensified beyond where they were under the T-5s. Growth has also been excellent. After sticking it out, I have never looked back, although at first I was worried (due to bleaching my corals.)

@ the store we have all types of light being used. Some tanks use the MH/T5 combos, other tanks have the MH/VHO, then we have several types of other LEDs. (Sunbrite, AI, maxspect, and some panoramas.)

I have had success with the Sunbrite over our 180 as well. (Wanted to note that incase someone asked about them) The only fault I have found with the sunbrite is a few LEDs burned out in one of the tubes rather quickly.
