Hey guys! I’m not sure whether or not I should get some more power heads for my 65L tank. Currently have the output from my Fluval 207 canister (upper right) and a Sicce Voyager Nano 1000 (mid left) in there, but am worried I don’t have enough flow and surface agitation!
I was thinking about adding another 2 of the 1000’s in the spots marked in the photo but don’t want to create a whirl pool haha, advice appreciated!

What livestock is going into this tank?

A video of surface agitation would help with evaluation.

it’s sort of undecided at this point while i’m cycling, definitely a mixed reef but mainly softies and lps corals and potentially a bta
Snails, shrimpies, eventually a pair of clowns, eventually a goby and pistol shrimp pair, maybe a clown goby or a firefish?? not super sure at the moment

I’ll upload a video of the surface agitation in the morning as it’s quite late at night now but it is pretty minimal unless I lift the outlet to breaking the surface

also maybe a mandarin or a yellow banded possum wrasse once the tank is well established with pods down the track

In that size tank, those two sources of water movement should be more than sufficient. I suggest lifting outlet of Nano 1000.

IMO you should not need so many sources of flow for this size tank. IMO you should have enough flow, perhaps just replace the sicce with something else. The sicce is a good powerhead, but it puts out a gentle wider flow area, get something that puts out a more narrow stronger beam of water (like a hygger for example) so that it can agitate the surface for you.

would it better for me to get a wavemaker that pulses than a power head for the right side do you think?
Great idea.
I use Jebao SW and OW’s as reference.
Maybe an SW-8.
The OW’s are meant to work together, they do an on/off thing which can be 5 seconds to say a minute interval.
