ESHOPPS Mariner 70 Build

How are my nitrates so low? Dirty PolyFil, no skimmer, feed 1000 times a day...

Test again and if it is true don’t question it ;)
I'm just not excited because low means it can bottom out. I'm considering buying some Loudwolf ammonia to bring it up a little bit.

Added Loudwolf Ammonium Chloride to the cart on Amazon. Probably gonna grab some Calcium Chloride as well...

There are a good many times I test my nitrates are lower than I want and phos stays stable. Just a reef consumption thing…I use this for dosing nitrates… little learning curve with it, but I can link the calculator needed or I can do the math for you.

Added to my cart, thanks!

Calculator would be perfect! I'm building a little spreadsheet on my phone for this stuff so I don't have to keep chasing different calculators.

Calculator:
http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk
Click the link above…go to Dosing Methods Tab on that page and select Dosing Calculator…

Pick potassium nitrate for the selection, then multiply that amount by 0.84 to get the amount for sodium nitrate.

One thing about that SN… it is little pellets in the bag, I use a cheap coffee grinder off amazon to turn it into a powder so that it dissolves faster, but it will dissolve as is, just slower.

EDIT: Link is fixed

That's what I was looking at originally. Are you doing the Ammonium Chloride?

I went with Ammonium Bicarbonate. Not sure if that is better or not, but I went with that because it says there was no alk loss but increases PH. I'm curious to find out if I should have chosen chloride over bicarbonate.

I was considering the Chloride because I can handle a small alk drop... I'm at 10.6.

Alk - 10.4
Phosphate - 0.36
Nitrates - 4.4????
I'm reading along, first sign of dinos 3 days ago,
Alk- 9.5
Phos- .07
nitrates- 5.0

started cleaning the sand, cant do it every day or the parameters will really hit the skids, so I reduced PAR and overall lighting, only have 1 Galaxia at the moment . I use I.O. reef crystals, I stopped my AFR dosing until I get over this, Upped the amount that I feed and raised my float switch on my bubble magus roller. testing every 2 days to keep tabs on were its going.

edit: my tank is still fairly new and just coming out of the uglies

Not sure how I can increase my feeding much more. I've got 3 auto feeders and a Plank. Plank runs once a day, the rest run twice a day. I can feed more frozen and coral broadcast I suppose...

I was feeding twice a day, easy for me. Mostly frozen, DIY food and also just DIY Mysis shrimp
