In my case the wife and I have 20 wooded acres that we live on. I’ll walk our trails and climb a tree stand and just sit and nature watch and take in all the wild noises.

So I agree with a few others, take a nice long walk in a park you’re not familiar with; explore!

Im pretty sure I’m in a semi rut/depression at the moment. I’m the one responsible for safety at our facility so work (my usual escape from home) is hectic and extremely stressful. Granted I kept my job so at least I don’t have financial stress. Home, my usual escape from work, is rocky at best with my hubby. I’m really feeling down. Normally my tank, quilting, reading, gaming keep me happy but I can’t motivate myself to do any of it.
I understand, i run a business with my husband, we met bc we go to the same martial arts school and we also live together. For me home work and leisure get very mixed together and i am also the #1 person in charge of everything safety in my company its rough right now, your not alone. The first thing i found especially with the lifestyle hubby and i started together is that being honest with each other is very important. Most of the time we are almost joined at the hip, partners in everything but sometimes we absolutely need to unwind and be alone this was kind of a hurdle for us but the whole honest thing really helps. Sometimes your partner can help by listening sometimes just being there and sometimes by leaving you alone, if you communicate what you feel you need maybe hubby can help you get less home stress. Theres times ive made requests like "im really got a lot on my mind i dont want to talk but can you sit right here next to me for a bit, a hug would be ok too". I also have many hobbies but sometimes you are just so drained that you dont feel like doing them either, ive been known to just pull out a beach towel and lay on the lawn stareing at the clouds or stars littlerally just doing nothing. Sometimes hubby gets invited to sit next to me provided he agrees not to talk and sometimes hes told that i just want to be alone. Sometimes we yell with each other, the neighbors probably think we're fighting but most of the time were basically taking turns cussing out the client that was a jerk that day together. We also have a dart board that is wonderful stress relief when someone is enough of a jerk to get their pic put on it ;)

I get by with a little help from my friends. I take care of them, and
they take care of me.

If the usual hobbies or fun isn't cutting it, then either do something completely different that you've thought about but never got around to trying or work out more/start working out. Improved physical health can improve mental health.

That means it's time for a change! Life is crazy that way, as soon as you get comfortable with life, it is no longer satisfying. Find something new and maybe put the gaming/quilting down for a brief rest. Try something new outside, it's crazy how being outside will boost endorphins and serotonin. Break the cycle, find your motivation again.

@ahiggins if it helps you can pm me all the stuff thats going on. Probably cant do anything to auctually physically to help but im a 32yo female reefer thats willing to lend an ear and wouldn't recognize you on the street if theres anything embarrassing. Sometimes thats the nice part of online friends lol.

I tend to make me a warm glass of sweet tea and sit outside on my swing and work on my tank. I also work from home and on my HOA so what I have done (this may sound stupid) is place a plant outside the door to my office and I rub a leaf and read a sign that says “race to be second”. This is my hanging tree so I will not take my worries out of the office so no impact of time with my family and I can dedicate it to them.

Anyone have tips/tricks for trying to de-stress?
Without going into too much detail-work and home life are super stressful and it’s really the first time I can’t find a way to deal with the stress. Usually I just dive back into hobbies or find some fun diy project but that’s not cutting it. I’ve been sleeping a lot and just binging on fb videos every night after work.
im sure people have some handy tips or tricks to help-so what do you guys do to reduce stress?

I had been running or hopping on my gravel bike to burn the stress off along with yoga 2x a day. Levels my brain chem pretty well. Finding the right music is my other go to. Shireg Shireg by the Hu (the live version from Sirius XM) is currently a go to mood enhancer for me.

Having said that...time to open youtube.

I like VR. Slap them on and go places you never have been. It's wonderful flying over mountains and checking out other countries. I relax and everything goes away.
Flying ??? The one time i tried, I almost flew into a wall !!! . . . LOL

Hi,

Don‘t laugh. I stare , just stare. I take little breaks during the day. You may not be able to fix big problems right away, but a 5 minute break here and there to stop and reset does wonders (for me anyway). It gives me chance to get my breathing, pulse, blood pressure, and racing mind back into rhythm. I stare at a coral, the fish, the rock. What ever. Everyone can stare and you can do it sitting.

Surfers and swimmers may relate to this problem solving analogy (I hope this is correct ;Woot ).

You are in the ocean caught in a rip current (problem). You freak out and try to swim to shore. (stressor) You will not make it. Take a second and relax, calm down and regroup and realize you need to swim parallel and you will be fine. Everyone needs a break, sometimes those currents keep coming and you need to keep swimming. Just keep taking breaks to deal with them as they come.

And this has been ...

I just take an insanely caffeinated packed pre workout throw on some loud violent music whether it be rap or rock and throw heavy weights around. I’m usually super tired after that I take a long nap and wake up refreshed. If that doesn’t work then I’ll invite some friends over to make fun of and the I usually feel a lot better ;Bookworm
