Hey there all
From UK, been in the hobby two years, six foot by 2 by 2 tank
First tank was fish only and live rock, now full Lps tank
Actually I'm thinking of giving up on the hobby, I've spent thousands of pounds on my tank to always end up with ich and two weeks ago after months of perfection watching a very large tank that's big enough to dive into lol I've ended up with ich again
The cause seems obvious, inhabitants are lion fish, blue throat trigger, regal tang, sail fin tang, gold rimmed tang, maroon clown fish, all fish are fairly large
Anyway yes yes yes I here people saying too many tangs etc,
Look I bought a blue throat trigger for the reef tank, the online store I buy from I spend grands with these guys so they threw in the gold rimmed for free
He went into tank, I knew it was too late, couldn't send it back so he went in, he starts sparring with sail fin, no issues with regal, they started clashing, nothing violent, like side by side swimming then moving off, three days later they were getting on great, but gold rimmed had ich, I'm feeding mixed cube food and I add ginger and garlic organicly to the stuff in chunks and let it sit in the mixture and it stays in the fridge
Uv steriliser going at 100 watts, it's more like a pond uv, anyway good news is they are all eating very well and swimming actively,
Then all of a sudden gold rimmed starts doing this submissive dance with blue throat trigger, is she confused or what, they aren't even the same family of fish, they clash and play and chase each other but it's not violent, they swim happily a lot of the time playing. Then occasionally they go little mad
Woke up today and blue throat covered in ich but eating and swimming great,
Here's the deal, advice needed. I cannot be arsed or bothered to set up a huge quarantine abs spend more money and catch all the fish and stress them more in such a large reef tank.
So what's a guy to do, I'm 28, I should be spending my dosh on versace tops and going out, instead me and my bf spend our bucks on our tanks, Yeh we still eat out and go out for drinks but f meeee it's not worth the money anymore, I should of perhaps just made it into a caiman crocodile tank from day one, would of looked just as cool
So guys I digress, sorry, look I'm hoping the fish build immunity and somehow the parasite vanishes, that's the silly little child in me talking
I don't know what to do, do I leave them because they are fine for now, stay on top of feeding twice a day and let them be, option two my local fish shop said remove the regal and gold rimmed and wouldn't be suprised if the ich slowly vanished
They make a point even though scientifically that's not true, option 3 is try whacky things like ginger root powder which some swear by, and options 4 is watch things die, me grabbing a brick, screaming at the tank and watch glass shatter as 700 litres of salt water fills my pent house living room and floods the neighbors flat below me ( yes I've done that once with my jacuzzi)
Any ideas anyone, even other comments besides Ich, my setup etc, what you would do if it was your tank etc

Calcium and mag all in range, yes nitrate is little high but that's all feeding, dose nopox every day. Phosphate is high but it won't go down, just ordered a reactor for rowa phos to go in there rather than canister filter, I have eighty kilos of live rock. I make my own water from ro unit with zero tds. Maxima clam died after six months of being fine, pyramid snails killed him. I have sea urchin in tank and red star fish, corals are gonis who are thriving, hammers, bubbles, one palythoa, favia, torch, frog spawn, typical Lps who enjoy my less than perfect water but not so bad it affects them. And one huge green bubble tip anemone, cost me three hundred pounds, hes massive. Lights are led, nothing fancy like Ai hydras etc just America make called ramp timer pro, corals enjoy it etc
No sump, everything is in tank. Flow is spot on. Canister filter with rowa phos on, good tmc protein skimmer. Temp never stays stable. It gets hot, fans go on, uv adds heat. Temp reaches about 28 degrees, then I bring it down to 27.5 with fans and opening balcony door etc. Night time stays at 27.5.
All fish Eating and swimming, tank is two years old as I've said. Crushed coral sand bed.
Right I love you guys and your responses. Pick my info apart. Tell me off for all the wrong I do, give me your tips and suggestions, tell me what's right if anything. Tell me how or what to do with my ich at thus stage, stop me leaving this amazing hobby and keep me passionate fish nerds! I love this hobby i just need a pick me up, inspire me!
