So, after seeing @sawdonkey modify his Ocean Revive lights, I figured if try it myself. What was the goal? To remove all the cool white 10k LED diodes and replace them with warm white 3.5k diodes. Also removed the useless red and green diodes and replaced them with 3.5k diodes as well.

Why? Better usable spectrum of light and to help fix the Windex look I get from my LEDs as they are too focused on the blues/whites. I missed the warmer colors I'd get (red/orange/yellow) like when I had my MHs.

While it's too early to call a success yet, my purples have been popping, my reds look marginally better, some of my green acros have a hint of yellow in them now, and all together, it looks more like my old MH bulbs with a fuller spectrum.

Bonus... I learned how to solder! [emoji106]

I finally got a chance to build my light rack and added the T5 bulbs I've been wanting to add to the LEDs for supplemental coverage and spectrum.

I used shelf track from home depot.

I used the pieces and constructed the light rack. The 3 LED fixtures sitting in the middle are the Ocean Revive T247s with all the 10k, green, and red diodes replaced with 3.5k warm white diodes. The T5s are run with ATI ballasts and are 80w, 60" T5 bulbs. The two front ones are ATI Coral+ and ATI Purple+, with a single ATI Blue+ in the back.

I call it my ATY Poorman's Powermodule. [emoji23] All I have to say is holy moly, it's bright! [emoji3]

Quick update and FTS.

-fish have 2 more weeks in the tub before the 76 day fallow period is over!
-picked up some new additions to the fish population, 2 pyramid butterflys, a PBT, and a red sea regal that are going through TTM, antibiotics, and prazipro currently.
-got some good algae with no fish in the tank, my GFO reactor clogging on me 3x's in a month, and not being able to just drop in new CUC as I have to QT them for 45 days before adding.
-been dosing nitrates as it dropped to zero without the fish

Looks great! Love the chips, haven't seen a colony in quite a while, let me know when you cut a piece off.

Thanks guys!

The colony is settling nicely into the spot I moved it to. It's such a quick grower that I'll probably be trimming it lots to keep it in check.

I haven't ever tried to ship my corals yet but will probably give it a try this Fall when it's cooler and things start getting overgrown.

Man, I just realized after 7 pages of documenting my reef tank, the one thing I forgot to mention up to this point is that I do NO WATER CHANGES EVER!!! Its been 2 years now. Last tank was 3 years with no water changes.

Coincidentally, last week I changed about 120 gallons. [emoji4]

I accidentally overdosed my Mg to 1800 ppm, which normally is not a concern as I've had it to 2200 ppm with ill effect. The problem was I had just added my new batch of turbo snails that have been QT'ed for 45 days just before that. For those that have elevated Mg, you know that it slows your snails to a crawl and if left too long, will die eventually, probably from starvation.

So I thought to myself, keep my 2 years of no water changes intact and let the snails die or suck it up and do some water changes. The snails won out. Be thankful little guys!
