Alright here we go again

I found this 90 gallon corner online and it was perfect for an unused corner in our house

the tank is acrylic so I now the struggles there with scratching it so I’ll just have to be extra careful with that.

this tank needs a lot of elbow grease and TLC but the bones are good

the background is some kind of styrofoam and I plan on taking it out.

it is plumbed in the back corner but im not
Sure what I’m going to do with it.

it came with a fluval FX5 canister which I plan on using to start it and upgrading later.

I have a small 5 gallon I’m going to put underneath start it up as well and tie them together.

let me know if you have any suggestions.

a lot of work ahead of me

For a 90g, a 5g sump is small. Should be able to fit at least a 20g under there, even a 10. If you keep the canister filter well then why bother with the 5g sump. You should make it starters themed. Haven't seen one yet.

no the 5 gallon wouldn’t be for a sump. Maybe just a little refugium for pods and stuff. Heck I don’t know ‍♂️

what do you mean starters themed?

Got all the sand out tonight and took out the styrofoam back.
I think I want to glue rock to the back of it.
But the biggest question is this overflow.

I’m not sure if I just cap off the drilled holes and bring the tubing over the back or if I should put an overflow in. I know the right answer is overflow but I’m not sure if I want to get that crazy.

let me know if you have overflow suggestions by few

cleaned the tank up today!

looks pretty good. Has a few scratches just need to figure out how to fix those.

also there is some acrylic stuff that clears up the acrylic so I need to look into that.

stand and canopy are all painted.

hoping to move the tank in.

next is figuring out how I want to plumb the tank.

Stand is painted and tank in place!

Next steps

1. use novus 2 to remove small scratches inside and outside of the front of the tank

2. set up plumbing/filtration

3. glue rock to back wall of tank

I just installed an Eshopps PF-1200 hang on back overflow and it works beautifully.

But I don't see any way of using a hang on back overflow with the euro bracing employed in the tank design. You would have to cut the euro brace. If you do, then why bother to have it at all?

The overflow is there. The tank is drilled. I'd use what exists.

Yeah agreed. I’m going to try and work on the plumbing tomorrow.

Alright I started gluing rock to the back wall!

I really like it. Just need to get the plumbing together before I finish the rest.

I ended up using loctite aquarium safe clear silicon and it’s working really well.

Hopefully will have the plumbing and the
done this weekend.

my tank theme is going to be somewhat Hawaiian/Polynesian/Moana. Im going to to put some tiki decorations in there and a moana necklace which my daughter is super excited for.

have to get the whole family excited!

Also sea glass is one of my favorite things to look for at the beach so I was thinking of adding some into there as well.

Alright the background rock is done!

I know what I want to do for plumbing but the local plumbing store that has what I need isn’t open until Monday. So I’ll do that on Monday.

Tonight I used novus 1 and novus 2 and I think it really help clear up the front acrylic.

i think I should have used the novus 3 but I was a little nervous since I never used it before. But very easy to use.

Next up is the plumbing and once that is complete I can get some water in this thing!
